The most important goal of school education is to prepare students who are able to act independently and actively, make decisions, and adapt flexibly to various areas of social life. In the context of rapid growth and updating of information, the development of students' cognitive activity has become an important component of the organization of educational activities, as it is the basis for the formation of universal learning actions that ensure the development of key competencies in younger students. The main idea of the study was to scientifically substantiate and experimentally test the effectiveness of the developed approach to the formation of cognitive activity in primary school students in physical education project activities. Its practical implementation showed high efficiency.
