TERM FORMATION FEATURES IN THE MODERN BRITISH MEDIA DISCOURSE (ON THE BASIS OF EDUCATION AND MEDICAL LEXICAL UNITS)

The research is devoted to a study of branch term formation features in the modern British media discourse. The authors analyze term formation features on the basis of education and medical lexical units used in the news articles from the Guardian. The examples of medical and education terms formed by terminologization, transterminologization, terminological derivation, and borrowing. The proposed framework may be useful for studying and teaching lexicology, terminology, sociolinguistics, media stylistics, and media discourse studies. The research findings may contribute to compiling special dictionaries and glossaries of education and medical terms.
