CONSTRUCTION GRAMMAR AND THE PROBLEM OF MEANINGFULNESS IN TEACHING A FOREIGN (ENGLISH) LANGUAGE

The article offers an analysis of the semantic division of a foreign language text based on the Construction Grammar in the framework of teaching English to cadets of educational institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. A definition of the concept of "semantic competence" is proposed, and constructions reflecting the details of lexical semantics in relation to syntax are described.
