SEMANTIC AND SYNTACTIC PROPERTIES OF THE NOUN "УДИВЛЕНИЕ" AS A SUBJECT (BASED ON THE RNC)

Shashkova Viktoria Yuryevna  (Lecturer Northern State Medical University Arkhangelsk, Russia )

This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the semantic and syntactic properties of the noun "surprise" as a subject. The study was conducted using the RNC, which ensures representativeness of the data and allows us to identify current trends in the functioning of this lexeme in modern Russian. The paper examines the types of predicates that accompany the noun "surprise" as a grammatical subject. The main semantic groups of verbs are identified: verbs of appearance/disappearance ("arose," "appeared," "passed"), verbs of emotional impact ("seized", "took possession", "struck"), verbs of visual manifestation ("reflected," "flashed," "was read") and others. The metaphorical nature of the collocation of the abstract noun "surprise" with predicates typical of animate subjects or physical objects is analyzed. Syntactic models of sentences with the subject "surprise" along with their structural and semantic variants, are described. Particular attention is given to the quantitative aspect of the study: data on the frequency of various constructions is provided, allowing us to identify core and peripheral modes of representing the emotion of surprise in the subject position. The obtained results contribute to the study of emotive vocabulary in the Russian language and can find application in lexicography, linguodidactics, and cognitive linguistics.
