Policy of language education in Russian universities under global internationalisation: case-study of system changes

The article describes one of the key components of the Ural Federal University’s large-scale project and examines its effectiveness in terms of facilitating its faculty integration into the global academic community. To evaluate the project outcomes a number of indicators were taken into consideration: foreign publications and courses delivered in English, Cambridge English exams results, English course enrollment figures, and programme participants’ survey results. The project outcomes have broad practical implications for any university’s strategy which should include maintaining its faculty English language proficiency as an integral part of continuous professional development.
