The measures taken by the Soviet authorities to preserve the suburban palaces of Petrograd-Leningrad in 1917-1931

The article explores the state policy concerning the preservation of the country’s cultural heritage during the first years of Soviet rule. It studies the history of nationalization of the suburban palaces, the high-priority activities for registration and museumfication of architectural monuments and establishment of a new system of management and regulatory documents.
