The topic of “hometown” in Mo Yan’s literary works

Mo Yan is one of the most significant representatives uncontemporary Chinese literature. According to statistics, most scenery described in his masterpieces is from his hometown -Dong Bei Gaomi. The beauty of his own hometown inspires Mo Yan to create his literary world. In this essay we will analyze and examine different aspects of his hometown that are reflected in his works, including landscape, lifestyle, traditions, usage of dialect, local history, folk culture and folklore.
