The destiny of man in “Spider World” by Colin Wilson: The futurological project of the epic novel

The article looks upon the picture of the world and man in it created by C.Wilson from a conventional position of postmodernity and represented in the first book of his epic novel “Spider World”. The insights into the epic perspective of the futurological project puts forward the problem of human destiny on the scale of the total society. The study of the narrative and philosophical discourse within the perspective leads to the conclusion that the author’s solution to the problem is grounded on the principle of the evolutionary process and moral purpose of human existence.
