The article is devoted to the speeches of the well-known writer and human rights activist Lev Kopelev on European, mostly West German, broadcast stations in the period from 1984 to 1996. As the main source, the author used the audio archive of Lev Kopelev Forum in Cologne, Germany. The article gives a source-study description of the archive materials and identifies the main groups of issues discussed with Western journalists. The author concludes that the foreign radio was for Lev Kopelev one of the most important communication channel with Western society. Thanks to it he could both popularize the main idea of his life - the Wuppertal project, and - more broadly – contribute to the dialogue of cultures between Russia and Germany.
