The Hesychast tradition as the basis of the Orthodox world in the novel of Ivan Shmelev "The Pilgrimage"

The article examines the influence of ascetic mystical Orthodox tradition of Hesychasm on the creative method of Ivan Shmelev and reflection of this method in autobiographical novel “Pilgrimage”, and also analyzes the issue of interpretation of the author’s Orthodox worldview. The transformation of the main provisions of Hesychasm in the art space gives understanding of I. Shmelev exclusively as an Orthodox writer and helps to control the formation of spiritual realism of the author. Also consider the reflection of the elements of Christian anthropology in creating the image of church-going hero.
