The article is devoted to changes in the perception of the history of Russia in American historical science. A departure from Cold War confrontational thinking and the emergence of new studies that historians have previously given to historians of culture, considered "unimportant" and "insignificant", sometimes "pretentious", based on the study of social history with great attention to culture, are being considered. The features of modern American historiography of the history of Russia are singled out, using new methodological concepts and approaches.
