"Aroma of books on China's New Silk Road" is one of the important projects of Chinese-Russian cooperation. Back in 2013, China and Russia signed a "Memorandum of Cooperation on a project for the mutual transfer of classical and contemporary literary works." The organizers of the event were: the State Administration of Press, Publishing, Broadcasting, Cinematography and Television of the People's Republic of China and the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation with the participation of the Chinese Society for the Collective Management of Copyright Rights for Literary Works and the Institute of Translation of Russia. Both sides agreed that in six years the translation will cover at least 100 literary works. The first batch of books translated and published includes Cao Xueqin - "Dream in the Red Chamber" ("Hong Lou Meng"), Luo Guanzhong - "Three Kingdoms", Lao She - "Notes on Cat City", Tie Ning - "Cotton Stack", Mo Yan - "Tired of being born and dying" and others. All these traditional classical and modern works are the embodiment of the development of literature from different eras and different currents, and great important to the Sino-Russian cultural exchange and study. Chinese works in Russia have become accessible to the general public, largely due to the active participation of the Russian government. It is also the embodiment of friendship between the two countries, which continues to be strengthened, contributing to bilateral mutual understanding.
