The effect of sleng on interest in learning a foreign language

The article examines the need for teaching slang in foreign language lessons. This learning approach has always been controversial among practitioners, since most foreign language teachers consider slang to be the lowest level of the language due to its vulgarity. However, there are those who believe that slang is an integral part of everyday language. As you know, it is very different from the literary and formal language in terms of its vocabulary and structure. The inevitable fact is that slang has penetrated even into the mass media, and this is a living, ever-expanding and developing language phenomenon. That`s why a student who studies a foreign language often faces some difficulties in understanding some TV shows, computer games, and most importantly in dealing with young people - native speakers. In this article, we consider the possibility of integrating slang into foreign language lessons as an opportunity for young people to become more self-confident and to interact with native speakers easily.
