The article describes interaction of gradation and comparison as kinds of expressive means in the language of F.M. Dostoevsky’s novel «Notes from underground». It is shown that gradationally-comparative complexes have the important place in the structure of the novel’s text. Different grammatical kinds of the gradationally-comparative complexes in the text are detected, and lexical-semantic means that form these complexes are characterized. The role of interaction of gradational and comparative relations in the content of the novel is analyzed.
