The article reveals the content of the concept "concept", which is becoming more and more widespread in linguistics and psycholinguistics. The article presents different points of view on the definition of the term "concept" and the scope of its use. Particular attention is paid to the study of knowledge used in the course of language communication, which is considered one of the leading aspects of cognitive linguistics. The question of the role of conceptualization in human cognition is one of the Central issues of modern cognitive linguistics.
