Features of the emergence and functioning of statistical agencies in the national outskirts of the Russian Empire in the second half of the XIX - early XX century. (on the example of the Ural region)

Based on archival material and published documents, the article identifies the main directions of work of the Ural Statistical Committee in the second half of the 19th - early 20th centuries. The organization of the institution's work was determined by the current regulation "On provincial and regional committees to the provinces and regions of Western and Eastern Siberia", adopted in 1865. This document consolidated the membership of the committee. To account for agriculture in the steppe, the committee developed agricultural cards, as well as conducted budget studies of the Cossack economy, property and occupations of the population.
