This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the satirical works of the Soviet writer A.B. Ruskin. It is noted that in many texts of the author's fables and epigrams, there are zoomorphic images that perform specifically significant pictorial and semantic functions in his idiostyle compared to satirical discourse of the Soviet period: in epigrams – the role of an individual-active metaphorical personification, similar to caricature, and in fables – acutely critical, caricatured characterization of the relationship between literary officials and writers.
