Metaphor as a type of regular polysemia

The article is devoted to the problem of the metaphor theory. The article describes the mechanisms for creating a metaphor based on agricultural vocabulary in two non-closely related languages: Russian and English. Metaphor is interpreted as a source of polysemia, as a means of developing new lexical meanings within a separate thematic group.
