Communicative approach to learning English in distance learning: analysis of the effectiveness of this method in relation to a new form of education

Currently, in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, and, as a result, in conditions of lockdown , the use of forms of distance education is becoming a need for a continuous learning process. It is already obvious that with the development of modern information technologies, the education system is entering a new, as yet insufficiently researched phase of development. Today, the efforts and attention of theorists and practitioners are focused on computer and information technologies, including the development of methods for organizing distance education. Having a year and a half of experience in teaching English in a distance format, the authors draw certain conclusions about the successes, certain difficulties and effectiveness of this form of education. Nevertheless, there is a serious shortage of specially developed curricula, methodological recommendations for their effective application and, in general, the lack of a unified methodology for distance learning and a noticeable imperfection of the distant formation of all aspects of foreign speech as a means of communication. This article is devoted to the analysis of teaching English in difficult modern conditions. The article discusses the important issues of using the modern communicative method in teaching English in the distance learning format. The forms of control of independent work in four aspects of English, as well as the features of teaching the language of professional communication to students of an economic university are analyzed through the prism of new conditions of pedagogical and methodological activity. The authors cite the results of an anonymous survey of students of PRUE named after G.V. Plekhanov on the effectiveness of this format for the successful study of English.
