Stereotype and the verbal means of stereotyping in the Russian language

This article reveals the concept “stereotype” from the standpoint of the national-cultural thinking of the people. The author of the article defines a stereotype as a mental image created by the age-old history and culture of the nation and reflected in the language. The article reveals the peculiarities of stereotype verbalization in the Russian language at the lexical and cognitive levels, the key ideas of the worldview through stereotypes of Russian national consciousness, which have a language representation. The author comes to the conclusion that stereotyping is part of the structure of the linguistic picture of the world and helps to comprehend the specifics of the mentality, which will have a positive impact on intercultural communication.
