The role of journalism in the development of Russian literature of the silver age

The article describes the topic that has not been sufficiently studied yet - the influence exerted by literary magazines on the formation of Russian modernism. In the late nineteenth and early twentieth century in Russia there was a strong relationship between the literary process and journalism. Newspapers and magazines played an important role in the development of modernist literature of the Silver Age. The representatives of the new cultural movements were faced with the task of explaining the new ethical principles and their own understanding of artistry to the world. The journalism of this period contributed to the successful promotion of the ideas of the "new" culture among the public.
