Jose Calvo Sotelo. Murder on the eve of the Spanish Civil War

This article examines the main stages of the life of the outstanding Spanish politician of the XX century, deputy of the Cortes Jose Calvo Sotelo. The fight against the outrages and riots in Spain generated by the actions of the Second Republic led to a confrontation with the left bloc and to the tragic death of a deputy. The murder of Jose Calvo Sotelo was the culmination of aggression and violence on the part of the left and accelerated preparations for a conspiracy against the Second Republic. The author analyzes the results of the historical events that led to the Spanish Civil War of 1936-1939.
