The article is devoted to the specifics of the graded function of particles and particle-like elements that are genetically related to the pronominal lexeme of indefinite semantics. Examples are considered in which the manifestation of the graded function depends on many factors: the predominant meaning of the studied word, the verbal and situational environment, the syntactic function of the studied word. A comprehensive analysis of the use of the studied units is given.
