The article, based on previously unknown archival materials, examines the preparatory part (repair work) for the spring sowing work of state farms and machine and tractor stations (MTS) of the Moscow region in the winter of 1941-1942. Particular attention is paid to issues of management in the state agricultural sector in changed (military) conditions, the meaning of the introduction of the new doctrine of the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks on self-reliance in a command-administrative system, methods of increasing the profitability of agricultural enterprises are described in detail. The actions of the leadership to reanimate political departments in the Soviet countryside on the basis of state farms and MTS, their specific measures to mechanize MTS and state farms on the eve of spring sowing, and attract additional resources from the previously unemployed population are analyzed. The conclusion is drawn that the authorities are ready to attempt to mechanize the village, given the lack of the most necessary means for this.
