KOREAN PAROEMIAS IN THE ENGLISH-LANGUAGE MEDIA OF SOUTH KOREA AS A RESULT OF INTERACTION BETWEEN ENGLISH AND KOREAN WORLDVIEWS

The article analyses Korean paroemias with national realities in English-language mass media in South Korea. The English-language media of South Korea play an important role in covering topical issues and socially significant events in the country, contributing to a broader and more flexible interpenetration of Western and Eastern cultures. The use of English as a communication tool allows the author of the media text to change the picture of the world fixed in this language and to determine the national specifics of the linguistic and cultural community represented. In the process of intercultural dialogue, the use of ethnic paroemias with national realities does not only introduce stereotypical ethno-cultural elements of a different worldview, but also contributes to the unification of culturally specific units in a new cultural context.
