FORMATION OF A NEW POLITICAL CONSCIOUSNESS IN GERMAN PRISONERS OF WAR IN THE USSR IN 1941 – 1945

The article is devoted to the work of Soviet state and party bodies with German prisoners of war during the Great Patriotic War. The relevance of the research topic is justified by the current military-political situation and the need to study the experience of forming a new consciousness among prisoners of war. The author comes to the conclusion that the activities of the Soviet authorities to form a new consciousness among some prisoners of war were successful. The decisive factors were the radical change in the Great Patriotic War and the methods of work used. Particularly effective in the process of forming a new political consciousness was the involvement of German prisoners of war in direct anti-fascist activities.
