THE THEME OF WAR IN M. P. SHISHKIN’S NOVEL "THE LETTER BOOK"

The article is devoted to the disclosure of the theme of war in M. Shishkin's novel "The Letter Book". War plays an important role in the artistic space of this work: attributes, symbols and signs of war form a destructive "aesthetics", which at the same time is filled with existential meanings and allows to extract answers to questions about the meaning and value of life, death and love from the description of chaos. The author of the article pays special attention to the Chinese "subtext" in the novel, the presence of significant elements of Chinese traditional culture in the narrative.
