FORMATION OF PROFESSIONALLY ORIENTED LEXICAL COMPETENCE AMONG STUDENTS OF A NON-LINGUISTIC UNIVERSITY

The relevance of the study. The digital transformation and globalization of modern society have changed the challenges facing higher education in the field of training specialists who speak one or more foreign languages in the professional field. The main task of a teacher in a non-linguistic university today is to form the communicative competence of students, to train specialists who are able to take an active part in intercultural communication to solve professional problems. The aim of the study is in analyzing existing methods for the formation of professionally oriented lexical competence among students of non-linguistic specialties and choosing a set of methods for its active formation. Methodology. The authors analyze various approaches in the selection of lexical material and methods for the formation of professionally oriented lexical competence in a non-linguistic university, and propose their own model of practical methods aimed at the formation of this competence. Scientific novelty / theoretical and/or practical significance. The use of an integrated approach in the selection of methods for the formation of professionally oriented lexical competence in a non-linguistic university is justified. The scientific substantiation of the concept of "professionally oriented lexical competence" is given. The methods of its formation are proposed not for a single specialty, but for students of different non-linguistic specialties based on a set of exercises of the "Vocabulary builder" sample. The results of the study. The results of the study show the focus of higher education on the tasks of forming lexical competence among students of non-linguistic universities, but not all methods are focused on the active use of lexical material for professional communication in a foreign language environment. Conclusions. Based on the results of the conducted research, the authors conclude that it is necessary to use an integrated approach in the selection of methods for the formation of professionally oriented lexical competence in a non-linguistic university.
