the problem of the activities of secondary schools during the war years remains relevant and little studied. In our article we reflected on the work of schools in the temporarily occupied territories of the Ryazan region. Sources related to the occupation of the Mikhailovsky district of the Ryazan region are considered, and estimates of destruction at the hands of the Nazi invaders are given. The protocols of interrogations of the local population were studied and described, and the similarity of the stories of the local population about the atrocities of the Nazi invaders was revealed. The article examines the educational process in the occupied territories and the activities of teachers. The teachers did not stop their work for a second; they did their best to help the students and their parents, as well as the Red Army. During the war years, a school in the USSR was the center of populated areas: classes were held there in the morning, newspaper and book readings were held there in the evening, or they worked as evening schools for the adult population.
