The transformation of the higher professional education system that has taken place is not related to the demands of the labor market, therefore, the quality of university graduates' training often does not meet the requirements of employers. Despite this, the key task of any higher education institution is to train competitive qualified specialists who meet the needs of the modern labor market. The introduction of a practice-oriented approach into the educational process is conditioned by the need to find adequate educational technologies for the training and development of students. The purpose of the article is to substantiate the relevance of course design in the formation of a future specialist in the construction complex, improving his skills, developing the necessary competencies. The article examines the importance of course design for the training of civil engineers, and their ability to work with design and estimate documentation for the construction of various facilities, as well as to set tasks for subordinates. The article may be useful for teachers in the educational process to understand the specific features of course design in the specialized disciplines of a future specialist in construction. The methodology of writing the article is based on an integrated approach, generalizing the experience of course design at the university.
