The purpose of the article is to study the practical aspects of modern methods of intensifying the interest and attention of the readership to media content through social networks, which have significant potential. Despite the similarity of the functionality of social networks with the features of the professional activities of the media, which leads to the emergence of competition between them, at present, professional publications should focus on the opportunities provided by social networks. It seems that this approach is capable of ensuring the promotion of media content products in both regional and federal formats in order to maintain the achieved position of publications in today’s competitive market. As for the specific resources available for use by the media in the context under consideration, three main aspects can be distinguished. First of all, we are talking about organizing a page or community for a specific media outlet on various social networks. There is also the possibility of using the so-called. “viral editor”, which is a method of non-systematic selection and broadcast of information content. In addition, transmedia projects are a significant aspect, smoothly moving from the federal level to the regional level.
