SPECIAL CHARACTERISTICS OF COMMUNICATIVE TASKS IN TEACHING ENGLISH IN A NON-LINGUISTIC UNIVERSITY

The article considers communicative tasks as an effective way of developing the communicative competence of non-linguistic university students. On the basis of practical work in the process of teaching English at a technical university, the variety of communication tasks for the development of students’ speech activities were analyzed. The authors propose a classification of communicative tasks, taking into account the development of communicative skills not only on general but also on professional topics. The article offers a classification of communicative tasks according to the content and type of statements. The classification is supported by examples of tasks from the educational complex "MAXIMUM" used in the teaching of English at the Russian University of Transport (RUT MIIT).
