The article, based on the material of the National Corpus of the Russian Language, examines the main combinations in which the adjective “Chinese” is included in the modern Russian language. It is emphasized that the cultural meaning of the combinations is related to what nouns are used with the adjective “Chinese”. It is noted that the combinations convey the consolidation in the Russian linguistic consciousness of ideas about the ancient culture and history of China, about the exoticism and attractiveness of China for Russian people, about the production of a large number of industrial goods of varying quality here. The Chinese themselves, in the perception of the bearers of Russian culture, appear as wise, modest, disciplined, hardworking people. The idea of Chinese as alien to Russian people rarely appears in combinations of the adjective “Chinese”. Combinations can be both free and stable, and the emergence of new phraseological units with the adjective “Chinese” continues.
Keywords:linguocultural, linguistic consciousness, image of China, Chinese, combinations.
