The paper is devoted to the study of a number of problems associated with the process of adaptation of disabled veterans of the Great Patriotic War to peaceful life in North Ossetia during the period of "late Stalinism". This issue is considered in the context of the socio-political agenda of the first post-war years. The nature and compliance of state propaganda with the realities of everyday life of disabled veterans is analyzed. The paper is written on the basis of a wide range of sources: office documentation of party and Soviet bodies of the North Ossetian ASSR, materials of regional periodicals, and personal documents, which are being introduced into scientific circulation for the first time. The work shows that despite the important social and ideological significance, the process of returning disabled veterans to peaceful life was accompanied by numerous difficulties for them.
