WORDS "ЛЕЧЕНИЕ" AND "ЛЕЧЬБА" IN THE ASPECT OF FORMATION AND USAGE IN THE TEXTS OF THE XI–XVIII CENTURIES

The article examines the history of the origin and development of the word лечение in the Russian language in comparison with the word лечьба. It is shown that both words have similar meanings, but they arise at different times. The word лечьба, which is more ancient, in the XVIII century was replaced by the word лечение with the book suffix -ениj-, and the suffix -ьб- for the word лечьба acquires a colloquial character.
