The article examines the indicators of the formation of reading literacy in a foreign language and the criteria for their assessment. The division of texts into continuous and discontinuous ones is noted as one of the factors for improving indicators. Special attention is paid to non-continuous texts, which imply the assimilation of information from various media sources. Statistical data are analyzed, according to which it is found out which texts should be used to increase the indicators of reader literacy in a foreign language. Information about reading skills and their impact on the quality of reading comprehension is integrated. The evaluation object and its purpose are highlighted.
