The article is devoted to the study of the question of how absolute power affects personality, the psychological state of a person using the example of one of the English monarchs of the 16th century, Henry VIII. The psychological transformations that the personality of Henry VIII underwent are studied. The phenomenon of absolute power and its influence on the psyche of the monarch, his political decisions and relationships with others are analyzed. The phenomenon of "intoxication with power" is revealed. The key psychological traits that arise in monarchs with absolute power are described. The conclusion is that absolute power leads to the isolation of the ruler from society and the development of destructive personality traits.
