BELOVEZHSKAYA ACCORDS AS A FACTOR IN THE DISINTEGRATION OF THE USSR: HISTORICAL AND POLITICAL ANALYSIS

Muradyan Lusine O.  (the applicant for the Department of Public Policy and History of State and Law at the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia)

The end of 1991 marked the extreme point in the history of the Soviet Union, after which the restoration of the previous state system became impossible. The collapse of the USSR leads to the creation of a new dynamic of economic processes, characterized by the speed of high transformations, the absence of centralized control and the preservation of fundamental and institutional conditions. Among the key events of this period, the so-called “parade of sovereignties” and the ratification of the Belovezh Accords by the Supreme Council of the RSFSR acquire special significance. The Belovezh Accords, signed in early December 1991, were a meeting of the heads of the union republics that were part of the USSR, as well as senior government officials. It was at this meeting, which had a fateful significance for the post-Soviet space, that the decisive blow was dealt to the territorial integrity of the Soviet Union, which led to its legal liquidation and final collapse.

Keywords:parade, sovereignty, Belovezh Accords, USSR, CIS.
