OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES OF HARNESSING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN TEACHING FOREIGN LANGUAGES FOR PROFESSIONAL PURPOSES

The paper examines the potential opportunities and problems associated with the integration of artificial intelligence-based technologies into the higher education system in the process of teaching a foreign language for professional purposes. The integration of AI into education transforms the established approach to learning and teaching, offering an adaptive technique to each student and timely and high-quality feedback which contribute to increased student engagement and the growth of academic achievement. AI-driven applications offer teachers new tools and opportunities to find and select educational content adapted to students' level of proficiency in a foreign language, simplifying the process of preparation for lessons, tests and assessments. The article emphasizes that despite the undeniable advantages offered by AI technologies for the education system their application requires careful handling of vulnerable data as well as careful validation and verification of the content offered by these applications.
