THE ITALIAN SOCIAL MOVEMENT AND RIGHT-WING RADICAL YOUTH IN 1956-1968

Sushkov Daniil Dmitrievich  (Postgraduate student of the Department of World History, Historical and Archival Institute, Russian State University for the Humanities, Moscow)

The article examines the process of decline of the Italian Social Movement party in 1956-1968, caused by the contradiction between its neo-fascist, revolutionary in nature, origins and its attempts to integrate into Italy's democratic system. The policy of A. Michelini, who chose the tactics of political integration and ignored internal problems, is analysed. The politician's political miscalculations provoked the growth of right-wing radical sentiments in the youth neo-fascist milieu, which led to a split in 1956 and the withdrawal from the party of P. Rauti's supporters, who created the New Order movement. Michelini's inability to find a political compromise led to the formation of a parallel right-wing radical field, whose representatives advocated more decisive methods of political struggle and formed new ideological constructs that formed the basis of the right-wing radical culture of the 1970s and 1980s.

Keywords:Italian Social Movement, neo-fascism, A. Michelini, P. Rauti, C. Graziani, A. Romualdi, Yerars of Lead, youth protests.
