The aim of this study is to analyze the original texts of William Butler Yeats’s poems “The Sorrow of Love”, “A Coat”, and “Long-legged Fly”, as well as two versions of their translations performed by such professionals as Grigory Kruzhkov and Ilya Lipes from a comparative point of view. The following tasks have been set and solved: 1) the study of Yeats’s works; 2) the selection of the poems and review of their original texts and translations; 3) the analysis and comparison of the selected poetic texts. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that there are few linguistic researches in the Russian segment dedicated to the works of William Butler Yeats. This article focuses on the analysis of individual works, both from the perspective of preserving the original meaning and in terms of maintaining literary rhythm. The data obtained in the article can be used in the study and analysis of translations of poems by foreign authors in any languages.
