the relevance of this study is due to the constant interest in cultural phenomena and issues of linguistic individuality, which is explained by many factors influencing the development of socio-cultural processes. Modern cultural, scientific and economic exchanges between countries inevitably raise issues of «language and culture» and «linguistic personality», which are becoming one of the key problems in the field of general and sociolinguistics. The purpose of this study is to consider the place of the concept of «Civilization» in Russian-language and English-language linguacultures. A lexicographic analysis of the concept of civilization was carried out using materials from Russian-language and English-language explanatory dictionaries, as well as wiki resources, as frequently used among users. The result of the article is the identification of common (overlapping) meanings for two linguacultures, specific meanings for each linguaculture, as well as unique meanings found in individual dictionary entries. This study is an important step for further study of the place of the concept of civilization in English-speaking and Russian-speaking linguacultures.
