The problem of space organization in fiction is of certain scientific interest not only for modern literary critics, but also for linguists who try to connect the linguistic representation of spatial relations of the author's text with the inner characteristics of the characters - with their thoughts, actions and deeds. In this respect, an interesting refraction of the category of space in a work of fiction is the Ural tales of P.P. Bazhov, in which a significant role is given to the linguistic organization of space. This article analyzes the linguistic units that represent two spaces - real (objective) and irreal (mythological), reveals the relationship between these spaces from the perspective of the author's picture of the world, which is revealed through certain groups of lexical units. The author of the article concludes that Bazhov builds a model of reality with the help of lexical units that allow the writer to reveal the two-unified nature of the world, built on the binary opposition of the real and unreal worlds.
