INFLUENCE OF RUSSIAN CLASSICAL LITERATURE ON THE WORKS OF SAADAT HASAN MANTO

Saadat Hasan Manto is a master of the short story of the 20th century, who wrote in Urdu. His works are still published in a large number of foreign languages around the world. The article attempts to analyze how classical Russian literature influenced the work of this writer. The parallels in the article between the works of Saadat Hasan Manto and the works of Russian authors allow us to note the influence of their work on his style, ideological attitudes, and, as a consequence, his way of life. In this regard, we can also conclude that Russian literature has influenced Pakistani literature, and this can be interpreted as a basis for cultural rapprochement between Russia and Pakistan.
