This article is dedicated to the problem of researching early Romanian written sources, in particular to the description of a 17th century Romanian manuscript called Codex Neagoeanus. Various Internet resources are mentioned, which allow to get acquainted with a rather extensive catalogue of monuments of early Romanian writing. Basic information about the Codex Neagoeanus itself, its date of composition, design features, damages and the scribe's notes are given. In addition, the article briefly reviews the 4 texts contained in the manuscript, each belonging to a different genre of early Romanian literature. After a brief description of the works collected in the manuscript, the few studies that deal in one way or another with its individual texts are mentioned. The fact that this manuscript contains texts of different genres, along with its low level of study, makes the Codex Neagoeanus one of the most interesting manuscripts to study in detail.
