DIGITALIZATION OF EDUCATION AS A RESPONSE TO THE DIGITAL DIVIDE

The article focuses on analyzing key challenges and trends in the digital transformation of education, emphasizing the issue of the digital divide. It explores modern technological advancements, such as the Internet of Things and big data, highlighting their role in expanding access to educational resources and overcoming spatial inequality. The paper identifies core barriers to digitalization, including infrastructure deficits, low digital literacy, limited governance mechanisms, and legal gaps. Special attention is given to the in-depth examination of hidden risks in digital transformation and the need for balanced strategies aimed at sustainable development of the educational system. The study describes approaches of international organizations and national initiatives to improve the quality and accessibility of digital education. It discusses ways to optimize the creation and use of digital educational resources, the development of assessment and monitoring systems, and current directions for enhancing the digital competence of teachers and students. The article underscores the importance of integrating fairness and inclusivity principles into digitalization processes. It concludes with the necessity of building flexible and open educational ecosystems capable of adapting to the challenges of the digital era and promoting equal educational opportunities.
