The article analyzes the combat activities of the 9th Orenburg Cossack Regiment in the 1820s–1830s. It examines the specific tasks of the regiment and its role in key battles. Special attention is also paid to the role of the regiment commander, lieutenant Colonel I.V. Padurov. The regiment participated in the combat operations of the Russian Imperial Army during the Russo-Turkish War of 1828–1829. The Cossacks successfully combined the functions of a reconnaissance unit, a mobile strike force, and a security detachment. Of particular importance were operations to neutralize Turkish detachments that found themselves in the rear of the regular army, the organization of a cordon service system, and the subsequent provision of security for communications and other strategic facilities.
The results of the study demonstrate that the 9th Orenburg Regiment under the command of Lieutenant Colonel I.V. Padurov carried out combat operations, including organizing ambushes, conducting raids, and implementing security activities.
