SISTERLY RELATIONSHIPS IN RUSSIAN AND FOREIGN FAIRY TALES

Du Shuyi   (The Pushkin State Russian Language Institute)

The article examines the archetype of sisterly relationships in Russian and foreign fairy tales, where the opposition of ''kind younger sister - evil older sister'' is frequently observed. The goal is to identify the socio-cultural roots of this pattern, analyze its psychological impact, and trace its evolution in modern culture. Methods of structural-semiotic, socio-cultural, and psychological analysis were used. The results show that the archetype reflects patriarchal values and the didactic functions of fairy tales. Modern interpretations, such as in ''Frozen'', reinterpret this stereotype, promoting sisterly love and solidarity. The fairy tale evolves, offering humane models of relationships.
