The article looks into the issues of replenishment of technical college curriculum. English as lingua franca is necessary to be learnt but the content of the English language programs provided at international faculties is rather problematic.
It is noted down that business communication with foreign partners – non-native speakers of English, can be characterized as equal-status and has its peculiarities and complexity. This kind of communication injects innovation into the teaching programs of international faculties relating not only diversification of language material but also the content of the material.
It is defined that the implementation of diversified approach to teaching provides great opportunities but can’t guarantee the formation of foreign language competence of technical students. That is why the authors examined the process of cross-cultural communication under the condition when both partners have rather intermediate but enough level for fruitful communication.
The author has come to the conclusion that one of the strategic goals of a technical college teacher is to make a student ready for fruitful cross-cultural communication psychologically and practically at the level they achieve. The education of a specialist that is ready for equal-status cooperation with foreigners and simultaneously feels as a worthy representative of native Russian culture is considered to be of great importance.
