The modern preschool education system is developing in accordance with the focus on developing socially mature individuals capable of conscious choice and responsible action, and implies the need to develop pedagogical conditions for the development of children's independence as a fundamental prerequisite for successful learning at subsequent levels. In this context, methodological design of the process of developing independence in leisure activities, which possess significant potential for the free expression of initiative and the development of a child's will, acquires particular significance, as it allows us to define the essential foundations of this phenomenon and overcome its reduction to utilitarian self-care skills. Independence in older preschoolers is considered in this article as an integrative personality trait, expressed in the child's ability and persistent need for proactive, independent, and responsible action in various activities, based on developing self-awareness and mastery of regulatory skills. This article examines the methodological foundations for developing independence in older preschoolers and describes the methodological and technological aspects of implementing this process in the sphere of children's leisure activities.
Keywords:independence, independence of older preschoolers, development of independence of older preschoolers, leisure activities, organization of leisure.
